The organ perfusionist training program aims to educate students into skilled professionals who can operate independently and competently within the field of organ perfusion. Students develop theoretical and practical knowledge of the entire organ perfusion process, from logistical preparation and surgical assistance to execution, monitoring, and organ assessment during perfusion.

Wat je gaat leren
- The student coordinates the logistical and technical preparation of an organ perfusion, including interpreting donor data, operating perfusion machines, and applying relevant medication and perfusion fluids.
- The student prepares the perfusion machine, considering the anatomical structures of the organ, surgical techniques, and the impact of perfusion fluids on organ function.
- The student performs a perfusion procedure, including setting perfusion parameters, regulating perfusion, and resolving potential complications.
- The student assesses the suitability of an organ for transplantation based on biochemical analyses, organ-specific functional tests, and the relationship between donor and recipient characteristics.
- The student performs and evaluates Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP), demonstrating knowledge of the MOD-DCD procedure, the operation of NRP machines, and the impact of perfusion parameters on organ quality.
